Lesson 3.3: Creating Effective Slugs (URLs)
What is a Slug?
A slug is the part of the URL that comes after your domain name. For example:yourdomain.com/how-to-grow-tomatoes
The slug is: how-to-grow-tomatoes
Best practices:
- Use hyphens to separate words
- Keep it short, clear, and relevant
- Include your focus keyword
- Avoid stop words (like “a”, “the”, “of”)
How to edit:
Right above the post title in WordPress or in the Yoast snippet preview.
Why it matters:
Clean, keyword-rich URLs improve user experience and help Google understand page content.
